Some of my "Forever Ewe" flock of Welsh Lleyn Sheep, Summer 2018

Lleyn Sheep are brilliant animals and the milk that they produce is the best milk ever in my opinion. It is so creamy and delicious it makes me smile with pleasure every time I drink it. It is a really good for ewe food source too in my opinion - it has double the protein of cow's milk, twice the Calcium which is so important for bone health, and more than  4 times the vitamin C in cow's milk. It also contains much more Vitamin A and E than both cow's milk and goat's milk. These vitamins boost your immune system and the health and appearance of your skin and thy are antioxidants too.

The fat is mono-unsaturated and so is good for you and helps to lower cholesterol. About 25% of the fats are medium chain fatty acids (tri-glycerides). These can help with weight control by promoting fullness, reducing fat deposits, increasing energy expenditure, and by being more easily metabolised. It is naturally homogenised making it easier to digest than cows milk. It contains more iron, magnesium, phosphorus, zinc and folic acid, and less sodium. It is the milk of choice  for high performance athletes. It has been suggested that it is more readily digestible for people who suffer from lactose intolerance and it could help with eczema and other allergies.

Sheep milk contains 50-100 times more nucleosides and nucleotides than cow's milk.Several studies have shown the potential use of these substances in fighting cancer, promoting healthy cell growth and the treatment of gut conditions including damage caused by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

It tastes wonderful too.

Some of my cute Lleyn lambs

I love combining this excellent quality and unique milk with organic, unrefined sugars and ingredients such as coconut to produce "clever food", delicious snacks and confectionery. I love eating them every day and I am pleased to share these products with you. I think they are "Fab-ewe-lous".

As an Environmental Health Officer I would only advocate consuming pasteurised ewe's milk and ewe's milk products as with all other types of milk to eliminate the risk of food poisoning caused by bacteria such as E.Coli, Salmonella, Listeria and Staphylococcus Aureus enterotoxin.

Food safety is my top priority. Our scrummy cakes, bakes, snacks and confectionery are hand made hygienically in our commercial kitchen  here in Coedana, on "b-ewe-tiful" Anglesey by two passionate foodie chefs, using only the finest ingredients.

"Mwynhau" Enjoy.
